The Alan Parsons Project est un groupe britannique de rock progressif formé en 1975. Il était dominé par Alan Parsons, Eric Woolfson et en il ont participé divers alignements de musiciens, ainsi que l'arreglista et directeur d'orchestre Andrew Powell.

Chacun apportait son granite de sable au groupe: Alan Parsons comme producteur, ingénieur et compositeur; Eric Woolfson comme producteur exécutif, compositeur et vocalista; et Andrew Powell comme orquestador et arreglista. Ils S'ont en plus entouré d'une série de musiciens et vocalistas pour chacun de ses projets entre lesquels se trouvaient comme des musiciens Ian Bairnson, David Paton ou Stuart Elliot et comme vocalistas le propre Eric Woolfson, Lenny Zakatek, John Milliers, Chris Rainbow ou Colin Blunstone entre beaucoup d'autres.

Ils ont jeté divers disques avec un grand soin en la production et créativité comme: Tels of Mystery and Imagination, I Robot, The Turn of à Friendly Card ou Eye in the Sky; et où ils se soulignent des thèmes comme: "Monsieur't Let It Show", "Time", "Eye in the Sky", "Silence & I" ou "Old And Wise".

À la fin des 80, Eric Woolfson a abandonné le groupe pour se consacrer à composer pour musicaux de théâtre, sont pourtant revenu à se réunir momentáneamente avec le bref projet Freudiana. Alan Parsons a suivi en créant nouveaux thèmes mais en signant avec son nom (sans le Project), en raison de problèmes avec la part des droits que maintenait Woolfson sur le nom du groupe. Actuellement dans ses tournées il revient à rescatar le nom original, avec permission d'Eric, en se dénommant Alan Parsons Live Project.

Dans les ans 2004-2005, Alan Parsons Live Project a fait une tournée mondiale pour faire connaître ses derniers projets et rappeler les succès de toujours, en réussissant le "plein" là-bas où il allait.
