Langsdorffia hypogaea

Les Balanophoraceae sont une famille de herbes pennes, parasites sur les racines d'autrui plantes, avec perte totale de la clorofila. Tallos Gros et carnosos, coloreados. Feuilles escuamiformes. Fleurest petite, unisexuales, monoclamídeas ou aclamídeas; réunies en inflorescencias denses. Fruits en núcula ou drupa. Quelques 110 espèces, presque exclusivement tropicales.
