Cecil Scott Forester (Le Caire, 27 août de 1899 - 2 avril de 1966), écrivain britannique renommé par son saga sur la marine réelle dans la Guerres Napoleónicas de la main de son protagoniste Horace Hornblower et scénariste de Hollywood.

Biographie

est Né à Le Caire, l'Égypte où son père George Foster Smith, docente anglais était fonctionnaire du gouvernement britannique.Sa mère était Sarah Medhurst Troughton. Il a réalisé des études de Médecine que n'a pas conclu.

Son premier succès comme écrit a été le roman Payment Deferred (1926). Cette oeuvre je joins autres telles comme Orgueil et Passion (1933) et La Reine du l'Afrique (1935), ont été portées au cinéma.

Dans le genre de roman naval se souligne saga joue le rôle principal par le navigant fictif Horatio Hornblower (1937-1957) basée à partir du epistolario que se conserve National Maritime Museum.^[1]

Stimulé par Forester, Roald Dahl a écrit son premier travail publié, Pain mangé, qu'a été acheté par le Saturday Evening Post par mil dollars, publié le 1 août 1942]], ce que a stimulé la course de Roald comme écrivain.
