La pigeonne antarctique (Chionis aube), aussi connue comme picovaina de Malouines et picovaina nival, est une espèce de oiseau Charadriiforme de la famille Chionididae. Il est un oiseau carroñera qu'habite dans les régions subantárticas de l'Amérique du Sud, ainsi qu'en la Péninsule Antarctique.

Description
Oiseau robusta et de pattes courtes, avec un plumaje totalement blanc. Son aspect rappelle un peu de à le de une poule, spécialement dans la fuite, donc est un corridor rapide et agile. En des vols courts il semble maladroit, avec les pattes en pendant, mais lorsqu'il se déplace sur mer ouverte vole plus énergiquement et il replie ses pattes.
Habitat
Côtes rocheuses du bout meridional de Sudamérica et îles subantárticas, îles Malouines et Péninsule Antarctique. Il est l'unique oiseau de pieds ne palmeados que créature dans les côtes de l'Antártida.
Alimentation
Est presque entièrement carnívoro. Il se nourrit surtout de carroña que cherche dans la ligne de côte. Il a l'habitude de visiter des colonies de phoques, pingouins, cormoranes et autres espèces afin de voler repas et oeufs.
