La Dasyatis pastinaca connue aussi comme trait et pastinaca, est un poisson pertenenciente à une espèce de la famille des Dasyatidae que se trouve en tout le Méditerranéen, en le mer Noire et en le Atlantique Oriental. Ils forment des groupes qu'ils peuvent arriver à être nombreux. Il se nourrit de crustáceos, poissons, cefalópodos et bivalvos. Il est ovovivíparo. De rare ou nulo intérêt commercial. Code FAO: JDP
Son aspect est similaire à la plus connue mantaraya. Il mesure normalement entre 1,2 et 2,1m de large et il possède une púa poisonsa dans sa queue de quelques 20 centimètres. Son poison n'est pas mortel mais si douloureux et cause grandes lésions ou paralysies. La pastinaca ou trait, par le général, attaque lorsqu'il s'est sur elle en des eaux peu profondes.
