Après entrer en territoire andalou, la Route à quatre voies du Sud change sa direction vers le suroeste, en partant depuis Bailén la route à quatre voies À-44 que se sépare de la À-4 vers Jaén, la Grenade et Motril. D'égale façon, à Cordoue un nouveau embranchement sud de la À-4, la À-45, se dirige vers Málaga. à Séville, la Route à quatre voies du Sud coïncide avec la route de circunvalación SE-30, qu'entoure la ville.
Bien que le changement en la nomenclatura des routes à quatre voies et autoroutes de péage fait que, dans l'actualité, l'ancienne autoroute À-4 (Séville-Cadix), se lui a changé le nom par AP-4, par le changement de catégories mais la À-4 à son pas par la province de Cadix, réfléchit par l'ancienne N-IV où se bifurca par variante au pas de Port de Sainte María (en restant l'ancienne N-IV avec le nom communauté autonome-31 et communauté autonome-32) jusqu'au croisement de la À-48 (croisement de San Fernando-Chiclana de la Frontière à Algeciras, où dans ce croisement termine la À-4, et ce que il était la N-IV a été renombrada par communauté autonome-33 (San Fernando-Cadix).
Le paysage rocheux et sinuoso de Despeñaperros a conditionné depuis toujours le tracé de la À-4 par dit parage. Avec objet d'améliorer en confort et sécurité, Promotion a attribué la construction de deux nouvelles chaussées entre Vente de Cárdenas (Ciudad Real) et Sainte Elena (Jaén). ils actuellement se trouvent en des oeuvres. Ils sont 9 km et il aura 3 voies. En plus se remodelará le marge ce de le raccorde de Sainte Elena et le nouveau raccorde avec la route J-6110 (à Aldeaquemada)
